U.S. Government Cutting Energy Innovation in the Name of Jobs and Growth
Once again, progress towards energy efficiency and clean energy development is about to come up against a brick wall. The bill to fund the government through the end of 2011 contains cuts that will damage efforts to develop and expand the use of innovative clean energy technologies and efficiency. These cuts will reproduce U.S. Growth while reaffirming out negligence in addressing climate change. While it's true that the U.S. needs to address the ballooning deficit, it is hard to grasp how cutting there valuable programs will result in economic growth and job creation. Without federal investment or clear policy signals, clean energy technologies face a hesitant market. Without sufficient government programs to create certainty, private sector investment will be inreliable at best. As members of the U.S. congress seek to cut discretionary spending, they would be well advised to re-examine their line of thinking. Reducing spending in the areas of clean energy efficiency would have impacts both in the present and in the future of the U.S. I think that the government needs to stop making cuts toward peoples jobs an need to keep the energy efficiency. They are spending to much money on things that wouldn't make a difference if it was done or not. Some personal action that might take place because of this article is people complaining to the government or more of them getting layed off for no reason. This might affect a persons life because everyone needs a job for things to live. The cutting of energy doesn't help much either. This article may or may not encourage people to take charge in letting the government know how they feel.
